International Day of Education 2025 at Aspire

Aspire celebrates UNESCO’s International Day of Education on the 24th of January. The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed this date to celebrate the role education plays in peace and development around the world. Aspire Early Education and Kindergarten is committed to providing high-quality education to every child in our centres.
“Education is a human right, a public good and a public responsibility.”
– United Nations
According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), 250 million children and adolescents are out of school and 763 million adults are illiterate. The International Day of Education aims to bring awareness to the educational needs of people around the world. This year’s theme “AI and education: Preserving human agency in a world of automation” inspires reflection on the power of education to equip individuals and communities to navigate, understand and influence technological progression.
As AI continues to advance, the boundaries between human thinking and machine-driven action often blur. This raises critical questions about how to redefine, preserve and ideally, elevate human agency as technology increasingly accelerates.
Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO Director General shared some insight into the theme, "On this International Day of Education, UNESCO invites the international community to work, through education, towards an enduring symbiosis between human and technological action. This special day reminds us that lasting peace begins with education."
The educational curricula throughout Aspire’s programs are rich in development and play-based learning. Underpinned by the Early Years Learning Framework (ELYF), the curriculum for the Baby Steps Nursery Program all the way to the Step Into Prep Four-Year-Old Kindergarten Program is tailored to the interests and needs of each child.
Artificial Intelligence is not widely used throughout Aspire’s centres but are aware of the impacts it may have on the education sector. Aspire Early Education and Kindergarten commits to aligning with the 2025 theme of the International Day of Education and being aware of the advancements of AI.

The Baby Steps Nursery Program provides a nurturing and supportive environment for our littlest learners. The first two years of life are an important time for growth and development for their future learning.
Aspire’s Nursery Hubs create a warm and welcoming atmosphere where babies begin their learning journey and develop emotionally and socially. Aspire’s nursery teams are highly qualified, with up-to-date knowledge of early childhood development, specialising in infant care.
Aspire Baldivis has an innovative nursery curriculum for its Baby Steps program. They focus on lots of sensory play, both indoors and out. Centre incursions also include the babies. Their friends at Jazzy Shazzies run fortnightly incursions for their nursery rooms, with a focus on music and movement. During toddlerhood, children become more independent and more aware of their sense of self. The Little Learners Toddler Program is specifically designed to create an engaging environment that supports each toddler’s cognitive and social development. Education plays a key role in the program. Because of this, it has a focus on early problem-solving, shape recognition, STEM foundations and physical development through sports and movement.
Aspire’s Little Learners curriculum supports children to increase their sense of self and reach developmental milestones.
The start of kindergarten is a key moment in any child’s educational journey. Aspire’s three-year-old Kindergarten program, Kickstart to Kinder, continues to build on the foundation of learning and development educators have fostered in a child’s early years.
In the Kickstart to Kinder Program, educators encourage children to learn about the world through play-based experiences. Centres provide a range of fun, interactive and educational learning opportunities to encourage children to become curious, creative and confident learners.
A strong, educational kindergarten program is crucial to a child’s successful transition into primary school. The Step into Prep program is tailored by room educators to each child’s class and their individual needs. As educators support children to develop key skills, they incorporate additional learning opportunities including excursions, incursions, and special programs, to further enhance learning and follow their interests.
A variety of educational opportunities are available throughout the program to help development in many areas. Encouraging children to solve problems on their own, understand their emotions, develop literacy and numeracy skills, and make new friends are encompassed by the program's holistic curriculum.
As Aspire reflects on this year’s International Day of Education, we are inspired to remain adaptive and forward-thinking. We also aim to ensure our practices equip children with the skills and confidence to navigate an increasingly evolving world. By prioritising innovation alongside care, Aspire commits to fostering a love of learning and education for every child.
