Celebrating World Children’s Day 2024

Aspire centres around the country commemorated World Children’s Day on November the 20th. This important day marks the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Read on to see how Aspire centres celebrated this day of importance.

What is World Children’s Day?

The United Nations World Children’s Day is an important date in Aspire’s calendar. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which is what the day commemorates. On this day in 1959, governments from around the world agreed on 54 different rights that each child under 18 years of age should have. These rights enable children to live safe, happy and healthy lives.

It is for every child, regardless of gender, religion, culture or ethnicity - and this is worth celebrating!

Pakenham

Aspire Pakenham’s talented Centre Manager Gaya brought out her face painting skills and surprised the children with face painting. The children transformed into their favourite characters, in designs ranging from tigers to beautiful floral patterns. It was the perfect way to Celebrate World Children’s Day at Aspire Pakenham. We love to see the skills and talents our amazing team members bring to the children!

Tarneit Square

World Children’s Day was celebrated creatively at Aspire Tarneit Square. Firstly the centre read the much-loved children’s book “Children Like Me”. This book celebrates children of all kinds, promotes empathy and embraces diversity through its bright and pleasant illustrations. After they read the book together, the toddler children created a gorgeous handprint mural. By decorating this mural with their handprints, it symbolises their togetherness and cooperation.

World Children’s Day at Aspire was a wonderful celebration of inclusivity, creativity, and joy, highlighting the rights of children worldwide. Across our centres, from face painting at Pakenham to creating handprint murals at Tarneit Square, we embraced the opportunity to foster understanding, empathy, and togetherness among our children and educators. This day reminds us of the importance of championing every child’s right to a safe, happy, and healthy life.

Aspire proudly celebrates World Children’s Day, and commits to supporting and nurturing children’s rights in everything we do.
