Aspire’s National Children’s Book Week Celebrations

National Children’s Book Week is an important week on the Aspire calendar. This week highlights the importance of reading with children and starting the habit of getting into a good book. Centres Aspire-wide commemorated the week in a variety of ways. From book-themed foods to costume parties, to special story times, there was so much to do and see! Read on to explore how our centres celebrated.

National Children’s Book Week at our centres:

Berwick Waters

It was a royally fantastic time in the royal court, or should we say the Three-Year-Old Kinder room at Aspire Berwick Waters. The children embraced classic fairytales during Book Week, and dressed up as princesses and princes. To celebrate this day of book week, they had a royal feast, with many delicious treats and snacks. The centre had decorations to match, with a princess-themed area, showcasing their favourite royal-themed books and stories. As well as that, the children listened to stories of brave princes and smart princesses to tie the day together.

Atherstone

Aspire Atherstone had heaps of fun activities for their children throughout National Children's Book Week.

The Kinder children had fun with “small world play”, based on some of their favourite books. The children dived into these experiences throughout the week and enjoyed interacting with aspects of the story and characters through the resources presented. They took time to create their own little stories based off the books they enjoy so much. It was a great way to finish off all our fantastic celebrations for book week.

Riverwalk

One of the most innovative National Children’s Book Week activities took place at Aspire Riverwalk, Werribee. The Wetlands Kinder room set up a book hospital! As we know, much-loved books can get ripped, scribbled on and broken over time. Because of this, we asked families to bring in their broken books to be restored by the children and educators. The children loved being book doctors, and had fun fixing small rips, and other breakages with tape. It is great to know that these once-broken books can provide joy to more children and avoid being thrown in the bin.

National Children’s Book Week Costumes!

One of the highlights of the week are the fun costumes that everyone dresses up in! Have a look at some of our favourites from across the centres in the gallery below.
