Why Regular Dental Check-Ups Matter for Young Children

Posted May 8th 2025

At Aspire Early Education & Kindergarten in Beveridge, we care for more than just your child’s learning and development, we also care about their health! That’s why, twice a year, we welcome a visiting dentist to the centre to provide dental check-ups for all children. It’s a great way to make oral health a priority in a safe, familiar and fun environment.

Families can choose if they’d like their child to have a check-up, a clean, or to opt out completely. Most parents take up the offer, and we love seeing so many happy (and healthy!) little smiles around the centre.

Making Dental Care Easy for Families

We know that not every family gets the chance to visit the dentist regularly. Life is busy, and sometimes it just slips down the list. By offering this service right here at Aspire, we’re making it easy and accessible for everyone. It also takes the stress out of organising appointments, travel, and time off work. With everything done onsite, it becomes a calm and positive first experience, especially helpful for children who haven’t been to a dentist before.

A Calm and Fun Experience for the Little Ones

Having the dentist visit the centre turns something that can feel a bit scary into something exciting. In their own room, surrounded by friends and educators, children feel at ease and are much more likely to cooperate and enjoy the experience. For many of our little learners, this is their first dental visit, and we love that it can happen in such a gentle, playful way.

Healthy Development

Taking care of teeth is about more than just smiles. Poor oral health can affect eating, sleeping, speech, and even learning. By joining these check-ups, you’re supporting your child’s overall wellbeing, and helping them stay confident and ready to explore the world.

After each check-up, parents receive a feedback form from the dentist. It includes a quick summary of your child’s dental health, plus any suggestions or follow-ups if needed.

Our 3 and 4-year-old kinder groups had a chat with the dentist about brushing teeth, eating healthy foods and looking after their smiles. It was fun, engaging, and full of proud giggles.

What's covered

Most of these dental visits are fully covered by Medicare through the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. If your child isn't eligible, there’s the option to pay out-of-pocket. We’ll always let you know in advance so you can decide what works best for you.

We’re proud to offer dental check-ups to support families and promote healthy habits from the very start. If you have any questions about the next dental visit or want to know more, feel free to chat with one of our educators.
