  • Centre-based or Long Day Care: Services for children from birth to school age, offering care along with early learning programs. It operates for at least 8 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

Who Can Work in Early Education?

An early childhood educational leader works with educators and children to develop a program of activities that support learning, as well as coaching and mentoring. Qualifications will vary according to the exact role but will include a diploma or bachelor's degree.

Other roles include support staff, and management roles such as assistant centre manager and centre director. This involves directing and supervising staff, maintaining records and accounts, strategic business planning and more.
