Toddler Experience at Aspire Tarneit Square

There is plenty to share about the toddler experience at Aspire Early Education and Kindergarten Tarneit Square. The little learners at the centre have been busy learning many new skills recently. See the ways that our toddlers are connecting, learning and growing!

Getting Arty in the Toddler Room!

The Toddler Room recently had fun getting creative by painting with a variety of different tools. They used regular paintbrushes, and balloons, amongst others.

Painting with different tools offers toddlers a wide range of benefits that contribute to their overall development. It engages their senses by introducing various textures and sensations. This fosters creativity and imaginative expression.

Using diverse tools also helps develop fine motor skills as toddlers learn to control their painting with different grips. This exploration aids in colour recognition and encourages problem-solving through experimentation.

All in all, this variety of painting tools keeps the painting experience fun and engaging, making art a joyful experience for toddlers.

Toddler Experience – Life Skills

Our toddler children have recently been introduced to scissors, under close supervision from an educator.

Learning to cut with scissors helps to build hand strength, develop hand-eye coordination, improve bilateral coordination, and improve attention to tasks. Additionally, using scissors helps children develop visual-motor coordination and enhance visual perception skills. Our toddlers practised their use of scissors by cutting up scrap bits of paper of different thicknesses.

It was a fun and engaging activity, and the children thoroughly enjoyed getting to practice cutting up paper with scissors.

Setting up the Worm Farm

The Toddler Room children really got into nature by helping set up the centre’s sustainable worm farm. This wiggly initiative provides freshly churned compost for the centre vegetable garden!

It was very exciting for the children to help the educators set up the different stages of the worm farm. From putting in the initial nutrient-rich base layer of dirt to adding the top layer of compost, the children were interested in the whole process. They especially liked adding in some yummy watermelon rinds for the worms to snack on. During this process, they discussed which foods can go in the compost to feed the worms. The centre will be feeding scraps from their daily meals with assistance from the toddlers.

The toddler experience at Aspire Early Education and Kindergarten Tarneit Square is filled with hands-on learning and development opportunities. Our toddlers are continuously growing and thriving through a variety of enriching activities. These range from exploring creativity through art and practising life skills like using scissors, to engaging in sustainable practices by setting up a worm farm.
