Toddler Development at Aspire Riverwalk, Werribee

Toddler Development at Aspire Riverwalk, Werribee

Toddlerhood is such a key developmental period in a young child’s life. This is why at Aspire Early Education Riverwalk, Werribee, we offer a range of education opportunities for toddler development. Read on to see how Aspire’s Little Learners program sets your child up for success, and how the Riverwalk centre does this.

Why is Aspire’s Little Learners Program So Important?

Giving a child educational and developmental opportunities at long daycare is key to holistic developmental growth. Aspire’s Little Learners Program fully invests in children by providing age-appropriate learning materials and a team of qualified educators. Tailored for children ages 18 months to 3 years old, the Little Learners Program supports physical development. As the children transition to the Little Learners Program, educators support toddlers to develop the ability to jump over small objects, throw a small ball and other objects and walk up and down stairs. Incursions like StrongFitKids and Little Sports Heroes also help toddlers develop motor skills and have fun while they’re at it!

Research into the links between long daycare and an advanced vocabulary found that the quality of a toddler’s learning environment related to the level of vocabulary growth from ages three to five. Hansen & Brekhuizen’s (2020) research found that interactions and conversations between educators and children strongly influence children’s language skills. With many opportunities to converse with peers and educators, children in the Little Learners Toddler Program are encouraged to express themselves.

Toddler Development at Aspire Riverwalk

We support the learning and growth of our toddlers at Aspire Riverwalk in many ways. One of these ways is through imaginative play. Children of this age tend to love copying what they see people do in real life. Things such as pretending to cook, fix an item, brush their hair or play with dolls are all ways that children mimic things they see in their day-to-day lives. For toddlers, copying others shows that they are starting to develop independence and their interests. This is a large step in their developmental progress.

We develop basic skills such as cooking at Aspire Riverwalk. During Teddy Bear Picnic Day in July, the toddler rooms had a great time cooking treats to share. They made honey joys and fairy bread and took part in mixing and preparing the food. Simple cooking activities are shown to boost toddlers’ hand-eye coordination and motor skills, as well as exploring new foods. Lots of lovely collaboration and sharing occurs during group activities like these, giving each child the confidence to have a go and share their ideas with others.

In conclusion, toddler development at Aspire Riverwalk is a key component to each child’s successful growth and progress.
