Aspire Early Education & Kindergarten Ramlegh recently celebrated National Superhero Week at the centre. Although this week included fun activities, laughs and creative dress ups, National Superhero week also aims to raise awareness of muscular dystrophy.
Muscular dystrophy refers to a group of inherited genetic muscle conditions. Muscular dystrophy causes progressive muscle weakness, meaning it gets worse over time. It can become life-threatening, and there currently isn’t a cure for it. That’s why this week aims to raise awareness and money for research into a cure for muscular dystrophy and support for those with the condition.
Aspire Ramlegh celebrated the week by dressing up and participating in different superhero-themed activities, while raising awareness for the cause.
As we celebrated Superheroes week, the nursery, toddler and kinder rooms all engaged in various fun activities. The 3-year-old Kinder children participated in an activity called Funky Fingers Challenge. The children had to rescue the superheroes from the trap. They used rubber bands around superheroes, where children used their fine motor skills and concentration skills to undo the rubber bands and save the action figures. This activity built on the children’s interests in areas of super hero and pretend play.
In the Toddler rooms, the children were provided with a challenging yet fun activity where they could progress their creativity and fine motor skills. The educators provided the children with a set of masks imprinted on white paper so that they could design and colour their very own ones using cotton buds and a variety of paint. Our little ones were super enthusiastic as they were excited to design their masks and choose their desired colours. This activity targeted their cognitive skills along with their imagination as they creatively used their abilities to design beautiful masks.
There was also a fun activity for the Nursery aged children too called “Find the superhero!” The nursery children all sat and enjoyed engaging in a superhero search sensory activity. Sensory bags were filled with different pictures of superheros for the children to find. The children loved splashing on the bags and moving the water to see what superheros they could discover! This was a great activity that engaged the child's senses, while developing their movement, balance, and spatial awareness too.
The children loved these activities as well as dressing up throughout the week in their favourite superheroes. Whether that was a fictional superhero or their superhero mum or dad. We love recognising fun events like these at Aspire and getting our children involved in different activities.
