Spectacular Summer Program at Aspire Riverwalk

During the summer school holidays, Aspire Riverwalk, Werribee has organised a fun and exciting summer program for their children. Including a number of different activities to scaffold learning, and just to have fun, Aspire’s summer holiday program is a great way for children at our centres to have a fun holiday season.
The Kinder Room had an exciting opportunity to ring in the new year at the cinema. The children had a wonderful time watching Inside Out in their room together whilst enjoying some delicious popcorn! Special tickets were created by the room teachers, and the kids had their tickets checked by the “cinema workers” before the movie started. It was a very interactive and immersive way to enjoy a movie, and the children and educators alike had a fantastic time. The joy of sharing this experience with their peers and teachers made the movie day even more special!
A team of little chefs have been cooking up a storm at Aspire Riverwalk’s summer program! The centre chef ran an exciting cooking session with the children, teaching them how to make banana bread.
Cooking with children offers countless benefits that go beyond the kitchen. Aspire Riverwalk’s engaging cooking activities help develop fine and gross motor skills through fun tasks like mixing, pouring, and kneading dough. As kids follow recipes and explore new ingredients, they enhance their language and communication skills. It also teaches them early mathematical concepts such as measurement and counting.
As a part of Riverwalk’s educational offerings over the summer holidays, the toddler children have been learning about space and the universe! Always a favourite topic, the children are especially intrigued in learning about the solar system and outer space. Through engaging activities and interactive lessons, they explore stars, planets, and galaxies, sparking imagination and fostering curiosity.
They cemented their learning through activities such as lining up the planets in our solar system, and a balloon-based activity where they had to match the balloon to its corresponding planet. It was a fantastic way for the children to connect, learn and grow with the vast universe.
