National Pyjama Day is a day all about wearing your favourite pyjamas to school, work or anywhere in between! We do this to raise awareness and funds for children in foster care. Aspire centres around Victoria and WA donned their favourite dressing gowns, Oodies and Ugg boots to help those in the foster care system.
Check out some of the fun we have at our centres and learn about National Pyjama Day.
National Pyjama Day was celebrated on Friday the 19th of July this year, with the aim of the event to raise funds for The Pyjama Foundation. Their “Love of Learning” program was where funds are going, which helps children in foster care to thrive at school.
Beginning in 2004, the Pyjama foundation gives children in foster care the opportunity to build confidence, life skills and their education. This assistance changes the direction of their lives.
Founder Bronwyn Sheehan OAM was shocked at the statistics pointing to low numeracy and literacy rates of children in care. This propelled her to do something to make a difference. The Love of Learning program was then born. Through Love of Learning, volunteers spend time once a week with a child in care, and focus on learning-based activities.
Aspire Thornhill Park celebrated with a special visit from Queen Elsa and Bumblebee to make Pyjama Day even more special!
The children, staff, and parents were happy to interact with the characters and enjoyed their performances. Shout out to the great team at XLENT Events for sending us some fun characters. What a wonderful way to celebrate in our PJs!
The team at Aspire Early Education Kalkallo are wearing their pyjamas all week in support of The Pyjama Foundation! They are teaching the children about the incredible work The Pyjama Foundation does, as well as have fun PJ-themed activities. They are raising money all week, to help children in foster care get a head start in their education.
Aspire Bella Estate had a ball during Pyjama Day! The team set up a range of sleepytime activities. One of the snuggliest was a pyjama tea party area with a proper china tea set, play food and some favourite bedtime books.
The children brought in their favourite stuffed animals and wore their warmest pyjamas. It’s safe to say nap time was cozier than usual!
