National Families Week celebrated from May 15 to May 21, is an annual celebration to highlight the importance of families and to promote the well-being of family units within the community.
The aim of National Families Week is to not only celebrate the crucial role that families play in Australian society, but to also reflect on the critical role that families play in teaching, supporting and nurturing children as they grow. Whether through local events, educational initiatives, or online campaigns, National Families Week highlights the importance of nurturing and resilient family units.
This year’s theme “Celebrating Family Diversity and Connections,” recognises that all families are unique, and come in all shapes and sizes. Fostering an inclusive community environment enables meaningful connections and a shared appreciation for one another.
As an Early Education provider, families are our Aspire community, and we continually recognise and celebrate the diversity and experiences of our families. This means finding opportunities to connect across differences including those in culture, language, gender, ability, and age. Building meaningful connections with families helps to support and enrich the children’s learning and strengthens family bonds.
Our families are an important part of our Aspire community and are the single most important influence in a child’s life. Supporting our families by providing a collaborative and nurturing environment will help strengthen the abilities and well-being of children.
We support our families through regular communication in person and online through our childcare learning platform Kinderm8. This provides updates on a child's progress, including developmental milestones, learning activities, and social interactions throughout the day. We ensure that all our educational programs, learning activities and daily meals are catered to our families and their rituals, lifestyle and communication methods.
Our philosophy “Aspire to Connect” is centered around family and community engagement, by providing opportunities for families to engage and embrace their communities. We host a range of internal and community events throughout the year that recognise different cultural celebrations such as Diwali, Ramadan, and Chinese New Year. We also hold Mothers, Father’s and Special Person’s Day events at our centres that celebrate our amazing families and the role they play in their children’s lives.
Throughout the year, we also hold parent-teacher meetings and kinder information nights to discuss the child's progress and provide information and resources to further support their growth and development as they transition into school.
We also gain valuable insight through our annual Aspire Family Feedback survey, which gives families the opportunity to share what they love about the centre, and what areas we can improve on. This ensures that as a company we can provide the best possible service and continue to see growth in our areas of improvement.
The processes we implement, as well as our community events all aim to honor and acknowledge our Aspire families and our partnership with them. We appreciate all our families and are proud that you’ve chosen to be part of the Aspire family as well.
