Little Red Riding Hood comes to life at Aspire Cranbourne North

July 2025 | These school holidays, Aspire Cranbourne North was filled with excitement, laughter, but also a touch of stage magic as our educators delivered a surprise that left children (and the parents) completely amazed. Instead of gathering for a regular storytime, the children found themselves stepping into the world of Aspire's Theatre, where the timeless tale of Little Red Riding Hood was about to unfold.
From the moment Little Red Riding Hood stepped into the forest, the children were completely hooked. Our amazing team brought the story to life with colourful costumes, big expressions, and plenty of humour. There was a curious and brave Little Red, a cheeky wolf who couldn’t help but steal the spotlight, and a grandmother who had everyone giggling.
It wasn’t just about sitting and watching. The children gasped when the wolf appeared, laughed out loud at the silly moments and eagerly joined in when the characters asked for help. That’s the beauty of live performance and it pulls the children right into the adventure.
And while everyone was having fun, so much learning was happening too. Storytelling like this helps build understanding how stories work, learning new words and following the sequence of events. It also encourages imagination and active listening, as children focus on what’s happening and think about what might come next.
When the final scene ended, the room was buzzing. The children couldn’t stop talking about their favourite parts, from the wolf’s big reveal to Little Red’s clever thinking. After the performance, some kids even started acting out their own mini versions of the story, while others drew pictures of the characters. It was lovely to see the play inspire so much creativity long after the curtain came down.
At Aspire, we love turning stories into real-life adventures. Whether it’s through reading, craft or bringing a book to life, these moments make learning exciting and memorable.
A big thank you to our wonderful educators for stepping into character and giving our children such a joyful experience and to our children for being the best audience any storyteller could ask for.
