Learning Mandarin at Aspire Berwick Waters

As children grow, they learn new words and expand their vocabulary. The development of vocabulary depends on the number of words they hear from adults through conversations, reading books, play and other interactions. As they learn new words children begin to understand and describe new concepts, which helps them as they transition into school and beyond.

At Aspire Early Education & Kindergarten Berwick Waters, they offer a language incursion program run by Early Learning Languages Australia (ELLA) for their kinder-aged children. Discover more about this program below.

Aspire Berwick Water’s Mandarin Sessions

ELLA is play-based learning program for children that teaches them a new language from a professional teacher who uses a play-based app. At Berwick Waters the children learn Mandarin as their language. The program is run by a qualified Mandarin teacher who offers one-on-one sessions and group activities to the 3 and 4-year-old kinder children. This is an excellent opportunity to introduce language skills in an interactive and engaging way. Engaging children in active questioning and participation is a positive sign of their enthusiasm for learning.

During these sessions, the teacher focuses on different concepts and activities to teach Mandarin such as learning body parts, learning how to say different action verbs, and naming places and landmarks.

By learning a new language, children can gain insights into the customs, traditions, and history of the people who speak that language. This cultural knowledge can help to understand the context and connotations of words better. Learning a new language at an early age also boosts cognitive development, enhances problem-solving skills, and improves memory.

These Mandarin sessions provided are both educational and enjoyable for the children, and our Aspire Berwick Waters team is proud to have this program at their centre.
