Our Aspire Early Education and Kindergarten Kalkallo centre has now been operational for a few months. During this time, children have been actively engaging in diverse learning experiences provided by our Aspire curriculum. The Kalkallo centre comprises of nine spacious rooms that cater to children from nursery age to kindergarten. Within each different hub, children participate in a variety of activities aimed at fostering their emotional, cognitive, and fine motor skills.
Discover more about some of the recent activities the children have enthusiastically engaged in below.
As part of the school readiness Kinder program the children participate in different letter recognition tasks. Recently the children further developed their letter recognition and letter formation skills by using play dough. The children were given different letters, and they used the play dough to fill out the letters.
Recently, the kinder children have also been partaking in colour sorting experiences. They have been combining their knowledge of colours and numbers to place the correct number of balls onto the different boards.
The children use their fine motor skills as they hold the tongs with one hand, making sure the balls don't fall from the tongs.
In the Toddler rooms, the children have been building with construction blocks, with the help of our educators. Building with construction blocks helps children develop their numeracy skills as well as develop their awareness of different sizes and shapes at a young age.
As well as these experiences with the rooms, our Kalkallo children also love to participate in outdoor play. The outdoor yard and playground provide many fun areas to explore and play.
Creating engaging outdoor experiences allows children to spend time playing with their peers and encourages children’s physical skills such as gross motor skills. Playing outdoors also further builds on children’s imagination and further extends on the children’s creativity.
Additionally, our programs actively promote the message of environmental consciousness and sustainability. Being sustainable is a skill that children can learn from a young age.
In the Toddler hub the children have begun to take responsibility for their natural environment by watering the plants each day. Teaching children about respecting their environments help develop life skills such as independence, responsibility and respect their environment around them.
Aspire Kalkallo have recently introduced their first incursion program run by Little Sports Heroes. This incursion will run every Thursday on a fortnightly basis. Little Sports Heroes is sports program that creates a fun way to incorporate the basic skills of movement through different activities such as throwing a tennis ball into baskets, kicking a soccer ball into a net and more. Engaging in physical movement helps promote growth and development in the children’s fine and gross motor skills, hand eye coordination and body coordination. The children have had so much fun engaging in challenging games and learning how to cooperate effectively with their peers!
