Learning Experiences and Incursions at Aspire Donnybrook

We are so excited to have recently opened our Aspire Early Education Donnybrook centre last month, and families and staff have now settled into the centre.

Our Aspire Donnybrook centre is located on Donnybrook Road at the gateway to the Platform Estate Donnybrook. We are conveniently located close to Donnybrook Train station, the local primary school, as well as parks and conservation areas. Our Platform Donnybrook centre has 8 spacious rooms that support children through their entire learning journey, catering for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old. Our service is a state-of-the-art facility with beautiful indoor and outdoor environments for children to learn and grow in.

Nature and Sensory Play

Natural materials are loose parts that can be combined, moved, lined up, taken apart and put back together again. The different textures, smells, sizes, colours, makes natural materials ideal for sensory play, and stimulates a child’s creativity and imagination.

Recently the Kinder children brough their imagination to life by using natural resources such as plants and leaves and creating different objects with playdough. Using playdough is great fun for the children and provides a sensory experience that helps to develop their fine motor skills and improve their creativity and imagination.

It's crucial to provide children with the resources and opportunities to create and lead their own learning experiences.

Cooking Experiences

The children at our Donnybrook centre have also been engaging in different cooking and food experiences. For Anzac Day, they had an amazing time making mouth-watering Anzac biscuits. Each one of them took charge of measuring the ingredients and shaping the dough into delicious cookies. It was not just a fun baking activity, but we also learnt about the significance of Anzac Day, the value of teamwork, the importance of following instructions, and basic numeracy skills through measuring and weighting ingredients.   

Recently, the children also enjoyed a delicious fruit platter, which also combined as a fun and interactive way to encourage children to serve themselves the fruit using tongs. This activity not only promotes independence and fine motor skills but also helps develop healthy eating habits.

Cooking and serving food independently provides numerous benefits for young children on their development and numeracy and literacy skills, as well as their confidence and social skills with others.  

Sport Incursion Program

From the 13th of May, Aspire Donnybrook will introduce their first incursion program run by Little Sports Heroes. Little Sports Heroes is sports program that creates a fun way to incorporate the basic skills of movement through different activities such as throwing a tennis ball into baskets, kicking a soccer ball into a net and more. Engaging in physical movement helps promote growth and development in the children’s fine and gross motor skills, hand eye coordination and body coordination.

We can’t wait to offer this incursion program at our Donnybrook centre and implement other incursions in the coming months.
