Learning and Play at Aspire Cobblebank’s Toddler Program

Toddlerhood is an incredible time of exploration and discovery. During this time, children are asserting their independence and gaining an increasing sense of self. Our Little Learners Toddler Programs are designed to create an engaging environment that supports your toddler’s social and cognitive development.
The little learners at Aspire Early Education Cobblebank participate in a range of engaging and educational experiences that support their development. See the ways that the toddler children at Cobblebank are connecting, learning and growing!

Understanding numbers and the concept of counting is one of the important skills in the early years of a child’s learning. The toddler children recently participated in a Pom Pom challenge and counting activity. They used coloured pom poms and placed the amount of pom poms that was relevant to the number.
This helped their understanding of numbers and the concept of counting in a fun and interactive way.
The toddler children love sensory play and engage in different sensory activities throughout the term. One of the sensory activities the toddler children love is hand-painting! Using a tub filled with paint they use their hands or different objects to create different paintings and art on paper. Hand-painting is an excellent sensory-based therapeutic activity that can engage multiple senses and provide an opportunity for self-expression.

Recently to celebrate Space week, the children also learnt about the plants in our Solar System through fun and engaging sensory exploration. Using a sensory tray filled with dough, they got to make different shapes to learn about the plants.
Sensory play activities like these improve fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and colour recognition.

During Nursery Rhymes Week, the children in the toddler room enjoyed singing nursery rhymes such as “Baby Shark” and “5 Little Monkeys”. Using puppets and plastic toys, they engaged in learning new songs in a fun and exciting way.
Nursery rhymes are extremely valuable in supporting language and communication skills, building confidence and preparing children for reading and writing as they get older.
As the weather gets warmer, the toddler children enjoy heading outdoors and picking out fresh herbs and vegetables from their centre garden. The Cobblebank garden was set up as a great way for the children to learn about gardening and growing their own food. The children picked their own herbs and vegetables and made it into a yummy summer fruit drink.
Gardening is a great way to teach children about growing their own food and encourages them to try different fruit and vegetables.
