Introducing Aspire Armstrong Creek’s New Centre Manager – Rachel!

Exciting news! Rachel Christopher has recently started as the new Centre Manager at Aspire Early Education & Kindergarten Armstrong Creek. Recently we had the chance to chat with her, and get to learn about her early education journey, what drives her, and so much more!

Rachel’s career in early education

Rachel said it was her sister’s career in early childhood that encouraged her to do the same. She first started working in after school hours in the Nursery room, and fell in love with the role. This was the starting point for her career in early education, which has now spanned over 30 years.

Over the last 30 years, Rachel has worked across all different age groups and roles at a centre level. She has taken her time with this, having a beautiful family in between, but has always returned and watched the industry evolve during this period.

Her hopes as a new Centre Manager at Aspire Armstrong Creek

Rachel says, ‘’My hope is to support every child and family too thrive and have a positive early years’ experience.” She wishes to have a positive impact on her team and support every team member to reach their full potential professionally.

As a Centre Manager, she loves that no day is ever the same, and you never know what is coming next. This keeps Rachel on her toes, and allows her to feel fulfilled in her role, as she navigates different challenges and opportunities to grow. She is very excited to join the Aspire Armstrong Creek community and be a positive role model for others at the centre.

Learning philosophies that guide Rachel’s work

Rachel is a strong advocate for play based learning. She finds it to be the most beautiful way to engage children in learning, while supporting their learning and wellbeing in a fun and informative way. Messy play is also something Rachel embraces, and that most children embrace too. She believes it’s a valuable activity that encourages exploration, creativity and social skills.

Rachel’s biggest inspirations throughout her ECEC career

Rachel still remembers her 4-year-old Kinder teacher who was a huge role for her growing up. Her warmth, nurturing attitude and belief in her really showed Rachel the impact that ECEC teachers can have on young children.

It was also a previous Centre Director that gave her confidence and belief in herself, and supported her to take the next step in her career as her fist Managing role back in 2020.

Her life outside of work

Outside of work, Rachel loves to spend time with her friends and family. This is usually out and about at the local cafes as she says, “Geelong has some beautiful coffee and places to visit.” Rachel also loves a good BBQ and is a big fan of the Hawks in the AFL, and loves watching the footy.

Rachel is so excited to be part of the Aspire Armstrong Creek community, and we are so thrilled to have her lead the centre! She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, and we can’t wait to see her build connections with families and the community,

If you’d like to meet Rachel at the centre, we encourage you to book a tour of our wonderful service. Vacancies are filling fast across the age groups, so book a tour or learn more below.
