Interactive Experiences at Aspire Cranbourne North’s Farm Incursion

Aspire Cranbourne North’s recent farm incursion was a wonderful experience for the children! It gave the kinder children a hands-on experience with a variety of farm animals, whilst also linking with their kindergarten curriculum. Learn more about Cranbourne North’s visit to the farm, and some of the animal activities they’ve been enjoying in the classroom.

Farm Excursion

Recently the kinder children at Cranbourne North had an exciting visit from Myuna Farm, who brought their animal farm to the centre. This was an amazing hands-on experience for the children who got to touch and hold a variety of farm animals. The children were thrilled to see and learn about each animal, practising their naming skills and eagerly identifying each animal they saw. They had the chance to touch and feed the animals, which included friendly goats, fluffy sheep, and soft rabbits, among others.

These interactions brought nature to life for them, fostering curiosity, empathy, and a deeper connection and appreciate for farm life. It is sure to be an experience they won’t forget!

On-Hands Learning

Following the animal incursion, the children began learning more about farm animals after their excitement and interest from the incursion. The children in the kinder rooms participated in a number-matching activity. They matched the number of eggs to each hen, helping them develop their number recognition skills in a fun and engaging way.

The kinder children have also read stories about farm animals and have sung fun songs and rhymes.

Farm animal incursions like this help spark the children’s interest in classroom activities. Farm incursions offer children the opportunity to engage with real animals, crops, and farming tools, making learning more interactive. This experience often leads to deeper understanding and retention of information, especially for children who learn best by doing or seeing.
