Growing Healthy Habits at Aspire Donnybrook

Healthy habits are important to establish from an early age. From eating healthily, to putting sunscreen and hats on, to putting away beds after nap time, Aspire Platform, Donnybrook helps each child grow independence. Introducing and working on these habits will sustain them throughout their lives and lead to a healthier lifestyle.

Being SunSmart – Slip, Slop, Slap!

Aspire Early Education Donnybrook’s little learners in the kindergarten program have been proactive in putting sunscreen and hats on when playing outside. During their daily routine, the teachers talk about how important sun safety is and encourage the children to take care of themselves. The children can properly apply sunscreen, wear their hats, and seek shade when they need to. They also know what clothes are best for sun safety, and to wear sunnies to protect their eyes.

“We’re proud of how they are embracing these healthy habits whilst having fun in the sun!” says Centre Manager Neeru Vishnoi.

Clean Hands, Healthy Habits!

Recently, the toddler children took part in a fun and engaging handwashing activity, learning the importance of good hygiene through play and routine!

Educators guided them through each step of the handwashing process. From wetting hands, applying soap, scrubbing all over (don’t forget between fingers and under nails!), to rinsing and drying. These simple yet essential steps help children understand how germs spread and how they can stay healthy.

Children’s immune systems aren’t yet mature, which means they are more susceptible to getting sick. Teaching young children about proper hand hygiene provides lifelong habits to stop the spread of disease and infection.

By making handwashing a regular and enjoyable part of the day, Aspire Donnybrook is helping little ones build lifelong habits that support their wellbeing and independence.

Being Clean and Tidy

Once naptime has concluded is a fantastic opportunity to teach the little ones about packing things away. Post-sleep, there are many mattresses, pillows and blankets to put away, to allow space for play time. The 3-year-old Kinder room has been taking big steps towards independence in this way. After nap time, the children each pack up their own beds, folding blankets and putting everything in its place.

Creating these habits is great and enforces the importance of putting things away when you’re done with them. Aspire Donnybrook also introduces this concept when the children are playing with their toys. The children are learning the power of taking care of themselves, one little step at a time!

In conclusion, Aspire Donnybrook is dedicated to fostering healthy habits that will last a lifetime in young children. By emphasising sun safety, hygiene, and the importance of tidiness, the educators are teaching essential skills and nurturing independence and self-care. These foundational practices not only support the children’s physical well-being but also contribute to their emotional and social development. As they engage in these meaningful activities, the little ones at Aspire Early Education and Kindergarten Donnybrook are building a strong, healthy future.
