Getting Sporty with SportsTots at Aspire Tarneit Square!

A weekly highlight for the children at Aspire Tarneit Square is when they have the chance to be sporty during their SportsTots incursion. Physical development is an important part of early education. Because of this, the centre ensures that the children are able to develop their motor skills, both gross and fine.
On a gorgeous, sunny May morning, the three and four-year-old kinder children had an incursion with SportsTots.
On a beautiful, sun-drenched May morning, the three and four-year-old kindergarten children eagerly participated in an exciting incursion with SportsTots. Running over two sessions, one for each age group, the children worked on their arm strength. The sessions started with a warm-up, which included a lot of running around!
After the warm-up, the children in the first session split into pairs. Then, one child held one end of a rope, and the other child held the other end. Each was then instructed to pull backwards as hard as they could, when Coach Joe blew his whistle. The whistle tweeted and the children started a tug-of-war contest. It was great to see the children really getting into it, with lots of cheering from the sides. Some children were a bit more shy, but enjoyed watching.
The tug-of-war activity was a great way for the children to improve their grip strength, core strength, gross motor skills, and upper arm strength. As well as that, it was a great way to have some healthy, fun, competition.
Physical development is a crucial part of holistic early childhood development. Early childhood is a time of quick growth in many areas, including movement skills. Motor development is about how children’s muscles and bones grow stronger, allowing them to move, explore, and touch things around them. There are two types of motor skills: fine motor skills and gross motor skills.
Focusing on building fine and gross motor skills, as well as other physical skills, is important, as it helps their physical health, cognitive function, emotional well-being, and social skills.
Aspire Early Education & Kindergarten Tarneit Square offers spacious indoor and outdoor environments, with plenty of room for children to explore, discover and play. The centre’s indoor rooms have been purpose-designed for specific age groups and are stimulating, safe and secure.
