Getting creative with Sketch Roo workshops at Aspire Cranbourne North

At Aspire Cranbourne North, we love giving children plenty of opportunities to explore their creativity and use their imagination, and our SketchRoo program is the perfect way to do just that.
Every day, our centre is filled with activities that help children express themselves in all sorts of ways, from arts and crafts, reading and building with LEGO, to outdoor play and so much more. But we also offer SketchRoo workshops that takes creativity to the next level and they are truly A-MA-ZING.
SketchRoo workshops are led by talented illustrators who guide the children through each project step by step. These sessions are hands-on, child-friendly and always full of engaging topics that spark little imaginations and help children feel proud of what they create.
During SketchRoo, children learn to sketch everything from plants and animals to buildings and robots. They get to experiment with paints, crayons and pastels, often using everyday items from around the room to bring their ideas to life.
One of the best things about SketchRoo is how flexible it is. The wonderful SketchRoo facilitator, tailors each project to match the children’s interests and ideas, so every session feels new and exciting.
More than just drawing, SketchRoo also supports children’s social and emotional wellbeing. Art is a beautiful outlet for self-expression and can help children learn to manage big feelings in a calm, creative way.
Creativity is so much more than painting pretty pictures. It helps children learn to express themselves, try new things and solve problems in different ways. Creative play builds confidence, curiosity and flexible thinking, all skills that children will carry with them as they grow.
When children draw, paint, build or imagine, they’re learning to communicate their ideas and process emotions in a safe and positive way.
We believe in nurturing every part of a child’s development and programs like SketchRoo help us do just that. By encouraging creativity, we help children feel confident to explore, learn and shine in their own unique way. We absolutely love it.
Encouraging creativity doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. At home, you can keep a simple art box filled with crayons, pencils, scrap paper and recycled materials ready for spontaneous craft time. Give children the freedom to create without worrying about making a mess or doing it 'perfectly'.
You can also make everyday moments creative. For example, build a blanket fort, make up a story together, collect leaves in the garden for nature art or turn a cardboard box into a rocket ship. Most importantly, give children time and space to dream, imagine and try new things. Celebrate their creations by putting drawings on the fridge or sharing them with family. This helps children feel proud of their ideas and keen to create more.
