Fitness and Fun – Aspire Thornhill Village’s Soccer Incursion

The recently opened Aspire Early Education and Kindergarten Thornhill Village held an exciting soccer incursion this month. With a hand from the amazing Sports Tots, the kindergarten children engaged in a range of fun soccer-based activities. Read on to learn more about the benefits of playing soccer in early education, and about Thornhill Village’s soccer incursion.
It is well-understood that physical activity is vital for a young child’s growth and development. By participating in soccer, children gain a variety of transferrable skills that allow them to improve teamwork and communication abilities, improve physical fitness, develop resilience in facing challenges, and boost their confidence both on and off the field.
Soccer gets kids moving and active, giving them the opportunity to learn about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. This also improves coordination skills, as children aim for targets as they kick, and practice dribbling the ball with their feet. As well as this, soccer, and sports in general, help build cardiovascular fitness. Even having a casual kick around in the park can be a great way to get active with your child.
Playing sports together is also a great way for children to build social and emotional skills. Teamwork is a key component of soccer, even when practicing drills. Learning how to pass the ball around and work together as a team is important in young children, as they begin to learn the concepts of sharing. Learning good sportsmanship is also something that comes from learning a sport at an early age. It can be tough to lose, especially as a child, but learning that it is ok to lose graciously is an important step in a child’s emotional development.
Aspire Thornhill Village’s 3-5 year old kinder rooms participated in a fantastic soccer incursion this month. Spots Tots visited the excited children to run a range of soccer fitness activities.
The children had a great time learning some key soccer skills. They worked on dribbling the ball, which included them working on how to control the call with their feet whilst running around. Then they practiced passing the ball to each other, which was very fun.
The most exciting part of Thornhill Village’s soccer incursion was when the children worked on kicking a goal into a target. They were so excited when they kicked a goal! It was wonderful to see the children’s skills improving, even in such a short time together.
Physical play experiences like this helps children develop balance, coordination, and strength while boosting their social skills through teamwork.
What a fun way to build healthy habits and a love for movement!
