Festive Activities and Fun at Aspire

During December, our Aspire centres have been getting into the festive spirit as we approach Christmas and the holiday season. At Aspire, we celebrate many different traditions and cultures throughout the year that recognise the diversity of our families and community. Although Christmas is not celebrated by everyone, the festive season can be a great time to engage young children in meaningful learning experiences, that are both fun and educational.

At our centres, the children have been making their rooms look pretty and festive by creating different artwork and hanging decorations. They have also been participating in a range of fun Christmas activities including arts and crafts, painting, gingerbread making and more.

See some of the festive fun at our Aspire centres below!

Creative Christmas Fun

With art smocks on and a burst of creativity in the air, the toddler children at Aspire Bella Estate dove into an exciting Christmas project. They turned ordinary used boxes and papers into a dazzling faux fireplace and beautifully wrapped presents just in time for Christmas. Armed with paints, brushes, and a rainbow of coloured pencils, they let their imaginations run—scribbling, drawing, and decorating to create a mesmerising masterpiece. These engaging experiences spark their creativity, help them develop fine motor skills, and engage in collaborative play.

The Nursery children also participated in a collaborative Christmas craft project to create a Nursery Christmas Tree. They were provided with green, triangle-shaped paper and used brushes to spread glue across the surface. With a variety of decorative materials available, the children thoughtfully selected items to adorn their pieces.

At Aspire Thornhill Park, the children engaged in a fun-filled Christmas decoration project, where they upcycled cardboard boxes into an incredible gingerbread house. With paintbrushes and different craft materials at the ready, they showcased their imagination and teamwork, eagerly anticipating their final gingerbread houses. The team may need to create some eatable gingerbread houses next!

The kinder children at Asire Cobblebank have also been engaging in some fun art and craft activities. They’ve been getting creative making their very own Christmas trees by cutting and pasting. The children have also been decorating their own Christmas gifts, and reading Christmas stories such as “Christmas Wonder Down Under” and “Santa’s Workshop”.

Sensory Activities

In Aspire Ramlegh’s Nursery room, the children enjoyed a Christmas sensory activity. The educators set up a special tray filled with red and green materials, including soft felt string, green and red icy poles sticks and colourful string. The children eagerly explored the different textures, as they engaged in hands-on play.

This activity provided a fun way for the children to enhance their sensory skills while getting into the holiday spirit.

The toddler children at Aspire Pakenham also got into the festive spirit by making their own gingerbread men using playdough! They decorated their creations with a variety of materials, letting their imaginations run wild. This was a great hands-on sensory experience while also embracing the magic of the season.

Centre Decorating

At Aspire Tarneit Square, some of the older children came together in the centre foyer to help decorate the centre Christmas tree. The children put up coloured baubles on the tree which added a lot of warm and Christmas colour to the centre!

Many of our centres have been decorating their rooms with Christmas decorations, including ornaments, lights, garlands, tinsel and more.

Aspire Balidivis alsohad some secret Christmas fairies in their centre over the weekend who transformed the front foyer into a magical Christmas wonderland. It included a Mrs Claus' Sweet shop, Santa's Workshop and a Post Office where the children can post letters to Santa! What an amazing team to create some Christmas magic for the children.

Where is the Elf?

And it wouldn’t be Christmas without Santa’s secret helper the Elf! There have been many secret Elves spotted around our Aspire centres. Already spotted has been Aspie the Elf at Aspire Kalkallo, Elf Bickies at Aspire Bendigo, and the cheeky Elf at Aspire’s Head Office. These Elves are bringing smiles and laugher to our centres and hopefully not too many mischievous antics!

The Chirstmas fun has only just began at our Aspire centres, and we can’t wait to see more Christmas-themed and festive activities during the month!
