Family Involvement in Learning at Aspire Tarneit North

Parent incursion Tarneit North - doctor visit

At Aspire Tarneit North, we love having family and community members join our incursions. It’s not only a great way to build connections, it’s a wonderful way for children to learn and grow.

This month, the Emerald Room (kinder group) had a very special and inspiring visitor: one of our very own parents, who is also a doctor! The children were full of questions and completely fascinated as they explored the 'real' tools, stories, and hands-on fun. It was inspiring to watch their curiosity come to life.

We’re excited to be introducing different professions to the children more often, with several parent visits already planned. Recently, a dad who works at the post office came in to talk about his role, and in June we’re looking forward to welcoming a nurse and a parent working in security. These visits are a great way to show children the many jobs people do in our community and we love that more families are getting involved!

Welcoming family and community members into our learning spaces helps build strong connections. When children see their family’s knowledge and skills celebrated in the classroom, it boosts their confidence and sense of belonging. And for parents, it’s a wonderful chance to actively contribute to their child’s early education in a hands-on way.

These experiences also plant seeds for future learning. A single incursion can spark interest in science, storytelling, helping others - or even inspire a future career dream!

At the heart of everything we do are our three pillars: Connect, Learn, Grow. Inviting our community to share their time, stories, and talents brings these values to life in the most genuine way.

Thank you to all the incredible families and community members who have shared their time and expertise with us. You help make our learning richer, our connections stronger, and our children’s futures brighter.

And to all parents: if you have a job, skill, or story you'd like to share with the children, we’d love to hear from you. It’s a wonderful way to involve our own community in the children’s learning experiences.
