Explore the Kinder Program at Aspire Truganina

Aspire’s funded Kinder programs are designed to ensure your child develops the much-needed social and emotional skills to transition into 4-year-old Kinder and their first year of primary school.
The Kinder Program at Aspire Truganina is comprehensive, educational, and interactive, setting a strong foundation for children. With a range of exciting activities and experiences in both the three and four-year-old kinder rooms, children have ample opportunities to connect, learn, and grow.
Sensory play involves activities that engage a child's senses, helping them to explore and understand the world around them. Recently the kinder children in Room 5 went on an exciting sensory adventure, harnessing their fine motor skills, social skills, and imagination skills. Using tongs and their fingers, they discovered and explored various objects hidden within the slime in a plastic tube.
Another type of tactile sensory experience is messy play, which the educators at Truganina like to set up for the kinder children. In the outdoor yard, the children engage in messy play with a tab full of coloured paint. The children love messy play day, and it is always filled with laughter and adventure. This hands-on experience allowed the children to develop invaluable social skills and critical thinking abilities.
Making the most of Melbourne’s warmer months, the Kinder children have been exploring the veggie garden in the outdoor yard. Together they have tenderly watered the veggie garden and harvested fresh apples, sparking a sense of pride and responsibility.
This gardening activity cultivates a deeper appreciation for the environment and their role in preserving it. They also learn about the lifecycle of different fruits and vegetables and their connection to nature. It's heartening to see them flourish in this busy time of year!
Throughout their daily routines, the children engage in different arts and crafts activities. Using an easel and brown paper, the children used paint to create artistic masterpieces! This transformative experience nurtured the development of their fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, and imagination.
The kinder children at Aspire Truganina also love when Denver from Sketchroo visits and provides his creative art sessions. This program allows the children to engage in arts, work on their fine motor skills, follow instructions and create unique pieces of work.
There are many other fun incursions that are offered for the Kinder children at Truganina. These include butterfly incursions, yoga incursions, cooking incursions, magic shows, African drumming and more.
The butterfly incursion is a fascinating incursion that empowers the children with a captivating hands-on experience with real butterflies. It inspires a deeper appreciation for their life cycles through enchanting stories, puppet shows, and interactive dress-up activities. The yoga incursion promotes movement and physical activity, as the children explore different actions and stretches, follow instructions, and learn with one another.
During the African drumming incursion, the 4-year-old kinder children get to experience the sounds of the African drums, as well as having the chance to play their own! This incursion helps them develop their gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, rhythm, listening abilities, and teamwork. The kinder children are excited for more fun incursions in the coming months.
Kindergarten is more than just an introduction to education – it is a crucial step for shaping a child’s future. These experiences and incursions are an insight into the Kinder program, but there are a lot more educational activities that the children engage in throughout the year.
