Exciting New Play Spaces at Aspire Kalkallo

Play spaces are an integral part of the growth and learning at our Aspire centres. Recently the team at Aspire Early Education Kalkallo set out on a mission to transform their play space areas and resources for the children. During a staff meeting, they discussed the vital role of play spaces and the need to enhance their inclusivity for children's exploration.

Check out some of their new play spaces below! The team are thrilled with the results and can’t wait to see the children’s reactions and the remarkable learning that will take place.

Kalkallo’s Creative Play Spaces

All the new play spaces at Aspire Kalkallo were designed with a love for learning, exploration and creativity.

One of the play spaces is a 'building blocks area’ where the children can build different things with big blocks. In this space, there is also a fun building and transport corner where they can engage in imaginative play using different car, truck, and house blocks.

There are also fun animal spaces throughout the different rooms including a dinosaur sensory tray, a jungle animal corner and an under the sea play area! These areas have different toy animals including dinosaurs, lions, tigers, elephants and sea animals including dolphins and whales. These areas simulate different environments or habitats, which offer children a hands-on experience to discover the world of animals in a fun and interactive way.

The team also set up different reading and creative spaces where children can sit down and read different picture books. Books introduce children to new worlds, characters, and concepts. They help develop imagination and cognitive skills by encouraging children to think critically about stories, characters, and the world. The creative areas encourage the children to get creative through drawing, painting and craft activities. These spaces allow children to explore, create, and express themselves freely, which is fundamental to their development.

Some of the other play spaces include a cute picnic area and a kitchen and café home corner. These areas encourage imaginative and pretend play, and also encourage group play between the children. Group play is a great way for the children to build on their communication and cooperation skills.

A Welcome to Country play space was also set up by the team which incorporate elements of Indigenous cultures, practices, and traditions. It is a great way to introduce young children to the rich diversity of Australia’s First Nations peoples and their deep connection to land, culture, and community.

The Importance of Play Spaces

Creating fun and educational play spaces within our childcare rooms is crucial for fostering a well-rounded developmental environment for children. These diverse spaces support a range of learning experiences and contribute to a child’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth.

By listening to our children’s interests and creating spaces they enjoy learning in, the children at Aspire Kalkallo thrive!
