Every second Tuesday, our friend Denver from SketchRoo visits the centre to let the kids unleash their creativity! SketchRoo is an art incursion program where children learn different artistic methods, build confidence and be creative. Children love the SketchRoo program for its curriculum-aligned, safe, and engaging experiences of exceptional educational value. The centre loves Denver’s visits, and the children are always excited to show their families the awesome art they create.
Little Sports Heroes visit the centre Thursdays on a fortnightly basis. They provide an engaging sports and healthy lifestyle program that encourages children to get moving. The children learn basic sports skills, how sports are played, and also take part in a variety of fun games and activities that help their physical development. Not only does Little Sports Heroes help with physical development, but helps with social and cognitive development too.
Every month, Cranbourne West is lucky enough to be visited by Aunty Karan from Yimba Yumba. Yimba Yumba is an ancient Indigenous earth connection practice, that focuses on the importance of connecting to the earth. Connecting to the earth sustains the health and wellbeing of the planet, as well as ourselves. Through this incursion at Aspire Cranbourne West, Aunty Karan can teach the children about her culture. It is a wonderful way to get the children connected to the land on which they play, learn and grow.
One of the most anticipated incursions each year is the Henny Penny program! This program sees the centre partly transform into a farm, with a number of unhatched chicken eggs brought in. Over the course of two weeks, the children watch in amazement as the eggs begin to wiggle and hatch! The children at the centre always get so excited once they can hold the cute and fluffy chicks for the first time.
