Diwali 2023 – A Night to Remember at Aspire Cranbourne West
What an incredible night it was celebrating Diwali 2023 with the Aspire Cranbourne West community! There was lots to celebrate, such as bright, shining outfits, delicious food trucks and plenty of dancing throughout the evening.
Diwali, alternatively recognised as Deepavali, stands as a significant religious festival rooted in the rich traditions of India. Annually observed for a five-day extravaganza, it heralds the commencement of the Hindu New Year. Diwali serves as a tribute to the victory of good over evil. The festival is steeped in local legends, which weaves a tapestry of cultural significance within India, and resonates in neighbouring countries. Amidst this festive period, homes come alive with vibrant decorations, adorned with the glow of lights and the gentle radiance of oil lamps known as diyas.
A highlight of the night were the market stalls from local small businesses. Strolling through the variety of stallholders was a treat, and it was a fantastic way to support local businesses. The variety of wonderful food trucks and stalls was also a treat! Samples of traditional Indian cuisine were on the menu, as were twisty potatoes, hot jam donuts and refreshing treats from Bubble Shake.
Kids were entertained by our friend Denver from Sketchroo, drawing caricatures and cartons for the kids. They were a fan of his drawings! As well as that, there was also a lot of ballooning fun thanks to Bruce from Balloon Antics. The crowd was captivated by his excellent ballooning and magic tricks.
The Aspire Cranbourne West team are always thrilled to be able to celebrate Diwali 2023 with family and friends. Again, thank you to all who helped organise, and a big thank you to everyone who celebrated with us. Because of the fun we had, we can’t wait for next year’s celebrations!
