Connecting Community - Aspire Thornhill Park
Community connections are one of the core values of Aspire centres. Aspire Thornhill Park has created and maintained a strong bond with many local services. Two excellent bonds have been formed, one with the brand-new IGA supermarket that has recently opened across the road. The other being their ongoing connection to Thornhill Park Primary School.
During Mother’s Day, the Thornhill Park team was invited to come along to Thornhill Park Primary School’s Mother’s Day Stall. Team members Alice and Ayesha were lucky enough to go along to volunteer their time and skills. The event was a great way to network with the school community, and to help children with their Mother’s Day gift shopping!
The connection between Aspire Thornhill Park and the local school was further deepened when they were invited to the centre’s Picnic for Prems event. This event was a fundraiser for Aspire’s partners at Life’s Little Treasures Foundation. The community, families and other friends of Aspire came along to learn more about the cause and raise funds.
Last week, the Kindergarten children enjoyed a delightful excursion to IGA, which serves as a central hub connecting both the school and the broader community. These outings are more than just visits; they are great opportunities for our young learners to build essential life skills, express their ideas, and explore the world around them. By engaging with the friendly staff and navigating the shop aisles, the children gain practical experience in a real-world setting. This enhances their understanding of community roles and responsibilities.
Looking ahead, we are excited to extend their learning journey with a planned excursion to the nearby park. This visit will not only provide a fun outdoor experience but also give the children a chance to glimpse their future school, fostering a sense of familiarity and excitement for what lies ahead. Through these excursions, we continue to strengthen our community ties and enrich the educational experiences of our students.
