Book Week started with a bang at Aspire Early Education Bendigo, Kennington! The centre hosted an exciting Children’s Book Week community event full of book-themed fun. Despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions, which forced us to rethink our usual setup, the event turned out to be a heartwarming success. Check out the fun we had below.
The day was packed with activities. There was dancing with a full DJ set-up, story times where beloved books came to life with Amanda, and vibrant face painting that transformed children into their favourite characters thanks to Blue Jay and Scribbles.
Then an interactive magician performance captivated the young audience. His dazzling performance was a favourite of the children and really added some magic to the day.
Books paired with interactive activities kept little hands and minds busy, fostering a love for reading and creativity. Thank you to the whole team for bringing the fun to life!
Easily a highlight for the event was the food. Themed around favourite children’s books centre chef Vicki went above and beyond to bring a creative twist to the event’s food offerings. Some of the food included a fruit platter recreation of Bluey’s house, carrots and celery from Peter Rabbit’s garden, and a serving of “Wombat Stew”. The food was amazing, providing delicious fuel for the excitement of the day.
We are also thankful to Deja Coffee for providing hot drinks for us during the day. It was much needed with the inclement weather!
Seeing everyone dressed up in their best costumes added to the fun. We saw some fairies, Barbie, The Incredibles, Dorothy, Winnie the Pooh and even a baby Spot the Dog! We also had a competition to decide who was best dressed. Check out some of our favourite costumes below!
We’d like to share a massive thanks to everyone that helped with the planning and running of this event. Overall, it was such a fun day, and the perfect way to kick off National Children’s Book Week!
