Tweet, hoot hoot and cock-a-doodle-do! Aspire Early Education Baldivis had lots of fun during bird week! The centre was lucky enough to have a bird of prey incursion from the team at WA Bird of Prey Centre. As well as that, they also had a chicken-hatching experience throughout the week, watching the eggs turn into chicks! Learn more about these feathery experiences below.
On the 14th of October Aspire Baldivis kicked off bird week with an amazing birds of prey incursion.
Nigel from the WA Bird of Prey Centre brought a few of his feathered friends to the service. He discussed bird safety and how we can look after them, as well as shared some awesome facts about these majestic creatures.
As a part of the incursion, the educators and children were invited to gently pat and cuddle Mr Snuggle the barn owl. He was very much enjoying the love and attention.
After this, the room 4 & 5 kinder children were invited to hold Micro the Wedge-Tailed Eagle. Despite looking a bit spooky with their pointy beaks and talons, the special guests were extremely gentle and behaved well for the children. Micro the Wedge-Tailed Eagle even spread its wings out wide at command!
Both the children and the centre team members were thrilled to meet and hold the birds. Check out all the pictures below.
Aspire Baldivis was lucky enough to incubate and hatch some eggs in October, with the help of Hatching WA. The centre had Nick set up the incubator and supply the eggs, ready to hatch throughout the week. Children, families and staff couldn’t wait to come and see the eggs and were eager for them to start hatching.
The children were SO excited to hold and interact with the gorgeous fluffy chicks once they hatched. Quite the difference from the birds of prey that visit the centre earlier in the week!
Throughout the week, the children learnt how to be gentle with small creatures, and about how to care for them. As well as this, they learnt the concept of eggs hatching and where birds, and other egg-laying creatures, come from.
October was a month of feathery fun at Aspire Early Education Baldivis! This modern centre continues to feature interesting and diverse incursion experiences for the children at the centre. Spots are still available at the Baldivis centre, so call 1800 978 429 to book a tour today.
