Aspire Tarneit North’s Excursion to Wimba Primary School

Starting school is the biggest transition in a young child’s life thus far. At Aspire, we work closely with families and primary school teachers at local schools to ensure children are ready for the transition into primary school.

At Aspire Early Education Tarneit North, they are fortunate to have built a connection with the new Wimba Primary School in Tarneit. As part of this partnership with the local school, the kinder children at Tarneit North will be embarking on regular excursions to Wimba Primacy School to gain knowledge on how primary school facilities differ from a Kindergarten environment.

Earlier in June, the kinder children in Jade Room went on their first excursion to Wimba Primary School under supervision of the educators. When they arrived at Wimba, the children had the opportunity to utilise the school’s gym facilities, where they used the sports equipment and played different activities. See some happy snaps below!

This school excursion promotes physical activity and builds on the children’s gross and fine motor skills. It also gives them the opportunity to learn more about the school curriculum, and experience some of the facilities the prep children use. This helps them get familiarised with the school environment, preparing them for their transition to school.

Aspire Tarneit North are excited to introduce a buddy system with Wimba Primary School later in the year, which will further guide and help our kinder children navigate the school environment.

Benefits of Connecting with Local Primary Schools

As an early education provider, there are numerous benefits of kindergarten children visiting local primary schools.

Firstly, it helps children become familiar and comfortable with the primary school setting, reducing stress and fear of the unknown when they enter their first year of school. Observing and participating in primary school activities also helps children understand daily routines, making their transition easier, and boosting their confidence.

School excursion programs also help develop a number of foundational skills in children. Interacting with teachers and peers enhances social skills, helping children learn how to communicate and collaborate effectively. Participation in physical and teamwork activities also builds on their social skills and develops their physical skills and motor development.

This school excursion program provides enhanced learning experiences and activities for the children outside of the classroom, which provides many benefits for their growth and development.
