Aspire Kalkallo’s Kinder Program and Preparing for School
Aspire Early Education Kalkallo offers an exciting and unique three and four-year-old Kinder program at the service. With a focus on building strong relationships with both children and their families, our Kindergarten program is designed to lay a solid foundation for lifelong learning and success. Our mission isn't just to educate, but to nurture and support the development of every child who enters our doors.
Aspire Kalkallo’s kinder program offers a range of different learning experiences and activities that support numeracy and literally skills, emotional and social development, physical growth and prepare them for their first year of school and beyond.
Painting and Creativity Projects
The Kalkallo kinder children love to paint and get creative! Recently they expressed an interest in painting using natural materials. The children used natural materials such as flowers and bark from the garden to paint different things they like. This allows them to explore their creative side, as well as explore different textures, smells and colours from the natural materials.
Incorporating natural resources in their creative arts space encourages children to develop an awareness of nature, as well as develop their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination,
A Focus on School Readiness
A big advantage of enrolling in our kindergarten program at Aspire Kalkallo is ensuring school readiness. "School readiness" encompasses many developmental factors such as self-regulation, planning, social skills, and problem solving. By applying a range of activities and concepts to Kalkallo’s kinder programs, children have a greater chance of thriving when they make the step to primary school.
As part of Kalkallo’s kinder program and promoting school readiness, the children have been focusing on their early literacy and numeracy skills. The children have been developing their pencil grips as well as learning how each of the letters and numbers are formed. Our children have also been exploring numeracy concepts such as measurement and volume. Using measurement scales, they gather different materials to see which materials are heavy or light. This promotes their problem-solving skills as well as trial and error.
Kalkallo’s school readiness program also prepares children with necessary literacy skills through different activities. The 4-year-old kinder children tools such as natural materials and playdough to make up different letters, extending their letter recognition. Children learn how to identify letters and have the motor skills to write them down. Our Kinder children also learn how to write different letters each day by writing them down on paper. Writing helps children develop their fine motor skills, hand eye Coordination as well as building on children’s concentration.
Fun Sports Incursions
Incursion participation allows children to explore new skills, be exposed to new cultures and to develop confidence. Aspire Kalkallo offers a fortnightly incursion program for the Kinder children, run by Little Sports Heroes. This is a sports program that creates a fun way to incorporate the basic skills of movement through different activities such as throwing a tennis ball into baskets, kicking a soccer ball into a net and more.
Engaging in physical movement helps promote growth and development in the children’s fine and gross motor skills, hand eye coordination and body coordination. The children have had so much fun engaging in challenging games and learning how to cooperate effectively with their peers!
