Starting school is the biggest transition in a young child’s life thus far. At Aspire, we work closely with families and primary school teachers to ensure children are ready for the transition into prep.
At Aspire Early Education Kalkallo, they are fortunate to have built a connection with Gilgai Plains Primary School in Kalkallo. As the closest school, many Kalkallo children will be attending this school after they graduate at our centre. Learn more about their day out below!
Recently, Kalkallo’s 4-year-old Kinder children went on an excursion to Gilgai Plains Primary school. They visited one of the prep classrooms taught by the lovely Mrs Walker. This was a great opportunity for the children to have a feel for what Prep will be like next year.
The children got to watch fun and educational videos with the prep teacher, create some artistic drawings and play on the playground. With supervision from our educators, the kids loved playing on the big kids playground, using the flying fox and climbing on the rope obstacles.
This type of activity promotes physical movement and builds on the children’s gross and fine motor skills. It also gives them the opportunity to learn more about the school curriculum, and experience some of the facilities the prep children use. This helps them get familiarised with the school environment, preparing them for their transition to school next year.
Aspire Kalkallo’s kinder children are excited to go on more school excursions to Gilgai Plains in Term 4. Check out a few of the photos below!
As an early education provider, there are numerous benefits of kinder children visiting local primary schools.
Primary school excursions outings offer real-world learning opportunities that reinforce classroom concepts, helping children connect what they’ve learned to their environment. Additionally, excursions foster social skills as students interact with peers in new settings, building friendships and learning to collaborate.
Furthermore, these activities stimulate curiosity, encouraging children to ask questions and engage actively with their surroundings. By navigating new environments, students also develop confidence and independence, while sensory exploration enhances their overall development. School excursions make learning enjoyable, motivating young learners and deepening their connection to the community.
