Aspire Cobblebank’s Harmony Day Exhibition and Yard Opening

Harmony Day, which is recognised in March every year, is a day dedicated to celebrating cultural diversity, inclusion, and the values of mutual respect. Its significance lies in its focus on fostering a society that is inclusive and respectful of all people, regardless of their cultural, racial, or religious backgrounds.

In early education settings, it is a great opportunity to promote inclusivity, respect, and cultural understanding in young children.

At Aspire Early Education & Kindergarten Cobblebank, they set up a Harmony exhibition to celebrate Harmony Day. It's been a project the team has been working on for over a month, with contribution from both the children and staff. Read on to learn more about the wonderful exhibition and the celebrations that took place to mark the occasion.

Harmony Day Exhibition

Aspire Cobblebank celebrated Harmony Day by showcasing an impressive exhibition of cultural artifacts from around the world. Each room dedicated a space to highlight the children’s activities and artwork, reflecting themes of diversity, culture, and inclusivity. The spaces featured beautiful creations and masterpieces made by the children, educators and families. With many of our Aspire families and community from different backgrounds and ethnicities of the world, the exhibition really captured the meaning of Harmony Week and the importance of diversity and inclusion.

As part of the celebrations, the children were also introduced to Aboriginal cultures and traditions, gaining a deeper understanding of how multicultural communities thrive in Australia. Through engaging activities, positive reinforcements, and shared experiences, they fully embraced the spirit of Harmony Day.

To mark this wonderful event, a community feast was also organised, bringing families, local businesses, local councillors, and the newly appointed mayor together. Aspire Cobblebank were fortunate to have Cr Julie Shannon and Cr Sophie Ramsey Watts Ward Councillor from the city of Melton join the event. Julie and Sophie have visited the Cobblebank centre on numerous occasions to show their support for the centre’s community programs, reconciliation plans and other initiatives. The new Mayor of Melton City Council Mt Atkinson Ward Cr Dr Phillip Zada also came to the centre for the first time, and was amazed at the beautiful exhibition the team at set up.

Representing the Cobblebank community, the staff from Precious Beauty Lounge, Dominos, Early Education Institute also attended the event. As well as Aspire Atherstone and some lovely team members from Aspire's head office. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to connect and celebrate the richness of diversity in the community, and what it means to feel united.

Cobblebank’s New Yard!

As well as the Harmony Day exhibition, the team also revealed their new yard as part of the event. Cobblebank were so excited to get a refresh of their new yard which was much needed! It was great to have council members and community members also there to see the work that has been done to revamp the outdoor space. The children have been loving the updated outdoor lawn, sandpits and playground structures. The garden and veggie patches are also a key component of Cobblebank’s sustainability program which the children are eager to start utilising as well.
