Aspire Bendigo’s Centre Manager - Get to Know Kara!

Centre Manager

Aspire Early Education Bendigo – Kennington’s Centre Manager Kara is the backbone of this thriving centre. We had the pleasure of having a chat to her recently. Learn more about Kara, and her early educational journey at Aspire.

What has your early education journey looked like so far?

My journey into early education began during my school years when I pursued a certificate in early childhood education through a vocational education program. Following that, I initially worked casually before transitioning to Woolworths for a few years. Eventually, I returned to my studies, completing my Certificate III and Diploma in Early Childhood Education.

You have been with Aspire for quite a while now! Where has your path at Aspire taken you?

I joined Aspire Bendigo - Kennington in October 2021 as a Kinder assistant. Within a remarkably short span of six weeks, I was entrusted with the role of Educational Leader. By November 2022, I proudly assumed the position of Centre Manager.

Are there any moments or aspects of working at Aspire that you have cherished?

One of the most cherished aspects of my time at Aspire Kennington is undoubtedly the incredible team dynamics and the profound connections formed with both the children and their families. Our team has fostered an unparalleled working environment. Collaboration, support, and a genuine passion for early childhood education are characteristics we all hold true.

Having a positive influence on the children at our Centre enables me to foster crucial connections. Being part of a small sized establishment means I can personally greet each family and child. These connections extend beyond mere interactions; children know me by name and seek me out to say goodbye at the end of their day.  Whether this be hugs or high fives, each moment contributes to my cherished memories.

Are there any learning philosophies that guide you as an educational leader?

My educational philosophy revolves around fostering a strong sense of belonging. I create a nurturing, positive environment where every child feels and knows they have value, safety, and support. Recognising that each child develops at their own pace, I prioritise inclusivity and strive to provide every child with an equitable and enriching learning experience.

How do you like to spend your spare time?

Outside of work, I cherish spending quality time with my family. I love being a Mum to my two boys, Anthony, 16, and Connor 11, and a wife to my incredibly supportive husband. We particularly enjoy traveling and relishing moments spent with extended family members, including my siblings, parents, nieces, and nephews. Family is at the core of all that I do.

What is your favourite thing about being a Centre Manager?

As a Centre Director, I find immense fulfillment in the opportunity to lead and inspire a team dedicated to shaping the lives of young learners. Being able to create a nurturing and enriching environment where children can thrive is truly rewarding.
