Aspire Bella Estate’s Fresh Fruit Initiative with Woolworths

At Aspire Early Education, we are proud to have connections with different community businesses, estates, and local schools in our various service areas.
Recently our Aspire Early Education Bella Estate centre in Clyde North announced their new partnership with the local Woolworths in Selandra Rise in Clyde. Discover more about this partnership below!
As part of this exciting new initiative, Woolworths will provide a weekly free fruit and vegetable basket to Bella Estate who will incorporate this into their healthy eating program. This initiative is aimed at encouraging children to develop healthy eating habits and have a greater knowledge of nutritious food from a young age.

To make these nutritious options easily accessible, the Bella Estate centre has set up a "Grab and Go" station for their families at the front of the centre with the fresh fruit and vegetable basket.
Families can take any fruit or vegetables they would like for themselves and their children to enjoy at home. As long as we all share with each other so there's plenty for everyone!
Bella Estate’s chef has also been getting creative and used some of the fruit and vegetables to make various snacks and food for the children and families. Recently the chef baked a delicious carrot cake made from the fresh veggies for our Aspire families to enjoy for afternoon tea.

The educators have also been using the weekly fruit and vegetable basket with the children in the rooms. Recently the toddlers and centre chef made fresh orange juice with the oranges in the basket!
The kids had a wonderful experience squeezing the oranges and learning about the benefits of fresh fruit.
Bella Estate is committed to promoting healthy eating and practices in the children’s daily lives. They recognise healthy habits start young and are proud to be making a positive impact on the children's health and well-being.
Incorporating fresh fruit and vegetables in early education settings is essential for promoting healthy eating habits, providing necessary nutrients, and supporting the overall well-being of young children. Here are some of the key benefits:
Nutritional Value - Fruits and vegetables provide vital nutrients like vitamins A, C, and K, potassium, and folate, which are crucial for growth and development. These nutrients support the immune system, bone health, and overall physical development. Many fruits and vegetables also have high water content, contributing to overall hydration, especially in active children.
Healthy Eating Habits - Early exposure to a variety of fruits and vegetables can foster lifelong healthy eating habits, and children are less likely to prefer sugary and processed foods. Regular exposure can also reduce the likelihood of childhood obesity and related health issues.
Cognitive Development - Proper nutrition is linked to better cognitive function and concentration. Antioxidants in fruits like berries can support brain health and development.
Physical Health- Fruits and vegetables contribute to a strong immune system, reducing the frequency of illnesses. Preparing and eating fruits and vegetables also helps develop fine motor skills, such as peeling an orange or cutting a banana.
Learning Opportunities - Incorporating fruits and vegetables into educational activities can enhance learning about nutrition, biology, and environmental science. Activities like cooking with fruits and vegetables can be educational and fun, reinforcing concepts in a hands-on way.
