Incorporating art and creative activities into early education settings is one of the most effective ways to promote early childhood development. Creative activities, such as drawing, painting, sculpting or cutting, encourages creative expression and exploration. It also helps to stimulate a child’s brain, enhancing their cognitive, emotional, and social development.
At Aspire, we incorporate art and creative projects into our curriculum and have dedicated learning spaces for art activities that are easily accessible. Recently at Aspire Early Education Atherstone, the children have been putting their art and creative skills to the test by creating beautiful artwork with different resources and objects!

At Aspire Atherstone, each of the Nursery, Toddler and Kinder rooms participate in a range of different art and craft activities throughout their curriculum.
In Atherstone’s Wattle Room, the children are very interested in exploring wild animals. To explore this interest in a classroom setting, the children carefully dipped wildlife animal toys into paint and then onto paper to make an awesome piece of artwork! The children in the Banksia room have recently explored their artistic skills using stamps. They chose their coloured stamp and pressed it down to create their amazing artwork.
In our Lillypilly 3-year-old Kinder room, the children experiment with paint brushes and drawing patterns, as well as cutting activities. This helps them think creatively and innovatively but also develops their fine motor skills in a variety of ways.
The educators in the Bluebells Nursery room encourage the children to explore a variety of patterns through their painting experiences. The children had the opportunity to explore using the templates on the large easel paper.
At Aspire Atherstone we offer a few different incursion programs and one of children’s favourite incursions is Sketchroo by Denver. SketchRoo drawing classes and workshops offer hands-on, child-friendly, and relevant subject matter to spark creativity and increase knowledge retention. The program extends the children's artistic side through paints, crayons, pastels, and items that can be used within the room. Recently during the SketchRoo program, the children used a variety of tools to create their own artwork on the sketching boards. This created vibrant colours as they each made their own artwork.
The SketchRoo program supports children’s creativity and innovation, as well as their social and emotional regulation through art.
