An Amazing August at Aspire Baldivis

An Amazing August at Aspire Baldivis

August has been a busy month at Aspire Baldivis! The centre took part in many fun incursions and activities, as well as other fun celebrations. Check out the highlights, and see what makes Aspire Baldivis stand out from the rest.

Learning about First Nations’ Cultures

Aspire Baldivis had their first visit from Cyril from Milliyaan Aboriginal Services on the 13th of August. This incursion deepens the children’s understanding of First Nations cultures and history. Through this, they will deepen their connection to the land they play, learn and grow on. In this first incursion, Cyril explained how the echidna got its spikes! Learning about native Australian animals and their Indigenous names was very fun, and the children said “Kaya!” (hello) to each of the animals. Cyril will visit the centre monthly, and the centre is very excited to see what the children will learn about next month.

Sport with Declan

The centre had Declan come from Rhythm n’ Run to run an incursion for the 3-5-year-old Kindy children! It was such a great time, with the children running about and having a blast. They played a variety of energetic games and had fun dancing the afternoon away. The Kindy children ALWAYS have an awesome time when Declan visits the centre.

Let Us Eat Lettuce at Baldivis

One of the children’s favourite things to do at the centre is to tend to their veggie garden! Since planting the first seeds when the centre opened, we harvested the first fully-grown produce in August! We had some delicious lettuce leaves ready to pick. The children learned how to harvest and wash produce properly so it is ready to eat. The kids enjoyed eating the lettuce and learning how plants grow.

Father Figure Afternoon Tea

To celebrate the fathers and father figures in our children’s lives, a wonderful afternoon tea was held at the end of the month. The team put together yummy snack packs for the dads and other little gifts to let them know how appreciated they are. Then the little ones made cute little biscuits with blue icing and 100s and 1000’s with their guests.

A “shaving station” was also set up for the kids to pretend to shave their dad’s or father figure’s beards. With shaving cream and paddle pop sticks, the kids had such a fun time pretending to help!

Aspire Baldivis

As you can see, August was a busy month for Aspire Baldivis, and this wasn’t even everything the centre did! Everyone had such a fun time taking part in all the activities and incursions. Because of this, we want to say a big thanks to the Baldivis team for organising such a fun-filled month!
