A Month of Fun at Aspire Manor Lakes’ Emu Room

Aspire Early Education and Kindergarten Manor Lakes’ Emu Room is full of kindergarteners who are learning about the world around them. The room for three-year-old kinder children encourages young minds to grow to prepare them for a lifetime of learning. Read on to learn more about the exciting activities the Emu Room teachers have engaged the children in recently.

Learning About Water!

The Emu Room children have been learning about a variety of STEM topics this term. Recently they had an interactive session all about water and its properties. The room team filled a tray full of water to demonstrate how it flows. Using cups, jugs, pipettes and baking syringes, the children discovered how water flows in and out of these objects and about how they affect it. They also played with some ice, which was welcomed in the warm afternoon.

It was a fun and hands-on way to explore how temperature and water work together. The educators were proud of their curiosity and creativity as they cooled off while learning.

Exploring Colours in the Emu Room

In the Emu Room children have been having a creative time discovering the magic of colours. Learning about colour theory from a young age has many benefits and is a fundamental aspect of early learning. Teaching children the names of colours and their different hues can develop language skills. Understanding and categorising colours can also engage cognitive thinking and mathematical concepts.

Since learning about primary colours, the kinder children in the Emu Room are exploring how these colours come together to create new ones. By mixing blue, yellow and red paint with white and black, the children create their own colours for their art. From this, the children have learnt that by blending these primary colours, there is a whole rainbow of colour possibilities!

Spreading the Love on Valentine’s Day

On Valentine’s Day, the Emu Room children made cards for their loved ones. Using rose petals, the children pasted them into a heart-shaped card. They then wrote a special message or drawing on the back. Creating special cards for loved ones is a great way to demonstrate to young children the importance of showing care and love to others. It also helped build their fine motor skills as they placed the glue and rose petals on the paper.

The children took great care in placing each rose petal, and were very proud of their work. We hope that the recipients of these cards loved them as much as the children did making them!

The past month in the Emu Room has been filled with exciting learning experiences, creativity, and heartfelt moments. It’s been wonderful to see their curiosity, creativity, and kindness shine through each activity. We can’t wait to see what the next month brings as our learners continue to grow, explore, and have fun!
