Aspire Early Education Baldivis has had several exciting and engaging events and incursions happen at the centre this month. These have been ways to connect and engage with the community, as well as ways to continue to develop and grow at the centre. March has been a special month at the centre, read on to find out why!
The room 5 Kindy children learned how to make classic Anzac biscuits with the help of their educators. Teaching children basic cooking skills is beneficial for developing motor skills, building confidence, learning responsibility and basic mathematical concepts. The only thing better than making the biscuits was eating them for afternoon tea! It was such a rewarding experience for all involved.
Captain Cleanup is a Western Australian icon, informing children and adults alike about sustainability and the environment for over 2 decades. The children at Aspire Baldivis were lucky enough to receive a visit from the Captain himself this month. He sang some of his favourite songs about recycling and danced with the kids. He also discussed the importance of using the correct bins for different kinds of rubbish. In addition, they heard about how old things can be reused and turned into new items. The children had never been so excited about recycling and trash! Thank you Captain Cleanup, for showing the children the importance of recycling and using the right bin for different waste items.
Holi is an important day on the Hindu calendar, significant as the festival of colours, love, and spring. The centre celebrated this cultural event in a variety of fun and colourful ways. Easily the favourite activity was the tradition of throwing coloured powdered dyes at each other. The children and educators alike loved getting messy and mixing the colours all over the place. The coloured dyes were also scattered across the pathways in the playground. Letting the children to spread the colour around in the yard was a highlight for many children.
