A Cuddly Time at Aspire Baldivis North’s Teddy Bear Picnic

Teddy Bear Picnic Day is celebrated around the world on July the 10th every year. Aspire Early Education and Kindergarten Baldivis North brought the centre together yesterday to celebrate this fun and fluffy day. See how the centre got into the festive spirit!

The History of Teddy Bear Picnic Day

Teddy Bear Picnic Day is certainly a fun day to celebrate, and has an interesting history. The popular song of the same name, “The Teddy Bears’ Picnic”, is what inspired the creation of this day. The melody of the song, originally written in 1907 by John W. Bratton, had its bear-themed lyrics added in 1930 by Jimmy Kennedy. The song has since become incredibly popular, with a highly successful children’s book using Kenny’s lyrics and illustrated by Alexandra Day, found in many childcare centres and homes alike.

Since the song gained widespread popularity, the day has transformed into a joyful celebration observed by families across the globe. They come together in the spirit of fun and relaxation, surrounded by their favourite stuffed animals, creating cherished memories together.

A Bear-y Fun Day at Baldivis North

Yesterday was one to remember at Aspire Baldivis North, as our children arrived with their beloved teddy bears in tow for a magical Teddy Bear Picnic celebration!

From the moment the day began, our centre was filled with excitement, imagination, and laughter. The children enjoyed listening to the timeless tales of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, We’re Going on A Bear Hunt and The Teddy Bear’s Picnic. We also bopped along to a cheerful Teddy Bear Picnic playlist. Throughout the day, there were plenty of smiles, snuggles, and bear hugs all around!

Adding to the fun, we welcomed special guest Jazzie Shazzie. She brought incredible energy to the day with dancing, pom-pom shaking, and musical instrument fun. The children couldn’t help but join in the giggles, creating a lively, joyful atmosphere that echoed through the rooms and outdoor spaces.

To finish off the festivities, we gathered for a whole-centre picnic lunch. This was a time to share food, laughter, and the company of our furry friends. It was a heartwarming sight to see children, educators, and teddy bears alike enjoying moments of togetherness and connection.

This event held special meaning as it coincided with NAIDOC Week, offering a beautiful opportunity to reflect on the themes of community, culture, and belonging. Our Teddy Bear Picnic was a celebration of the bonds we share and the inclusive, connected environment we’re proud to foster here at Aspire Baldivis North.
