Creative Adventures at Cranbourne East

Last month, Aspire Cranbourne East was buzzing with creativity! Across all our rooms, children explored a wide range of sensory and arts and crafts activities, each designed to extend their learning, build important skills, and most importantly, have lots of fun.
Our Azalea children proudly created their very own Easter bunnies using recycled materials. This experience was held outdoors and not only an art and crafts activity but also an opportunity to highlight the importance of recycling and caring for our environment. It was wonderful to see their imaginations shine through in their unique creations.
In the Bluebell Room, the kindergarten children were busy making 'Happy Easter' cards for their families. They also crafted personalised bookmarks using scrap-coloured papers, laminated sheets and satin paper. These activities helped the children strengthen their fine motor skills, focus, and sorting abilities as they organised the papers by size and colour. An added bonus was the development of cognitive skills as they experimented with building their own patterns.
Our younger groups dived into Easy Sensory Play experiences. Sensory tubs filled with crinkled paper and other textured materials sparked their curiosity and encouraged cognitive growth. The children had a wonderful time pulling the materials from the tubs, exploring different textures, and improving their fine motor skills and focus along the way.
In the Marigold Room, the children spent time creating their own beautiful poppy artworks to honour ANZAC Day. This thoughtful project not only helped develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination but also gave the children an opportunity to stand still for a moment on ANZAC Day and show their respect through their creative expressions.
Our Daisy children explored their sense of touch through a sensory dinosaur setup with sand, tan bark, and felt dinosaurs. To extend this interest, we created a dinosaur corner with felt and wooden dinosaurs, pretend food, and wooden shelves for homes. The children also brought the space to life with the book That’s Not My Dinosaur.
Our Sunflower children had a blast exploring sensory development through different pasta textures. They loved feeling, holding, and squeezing the pasta in a variety of colours. To add some Easter fun, we traced white Easter eggs through the pasta, further enhancing their sensory experience.
