7 Years of Aspire Excellence, Meet Dimpy Sharma

Dimpy Sharma is Aspire Early Education and Kindergarten’s longest-serving centre team member. A long-standing member of Aspire’s oldest centre, Aspire Cranbourne West, Dimpy is a familiar face to all at the centre. Dimpy is celebrating her seventh year at Aspire at the start of March! To commemorate this inspiring occasion, we had the opportunity to chat to Dimpy about her time at the centre, what she loves about Aspire, and why she loves being an early educator.

My Aspire journey has been marked by growth and development throughout my time here. Aspire has emphasised child and educator development and nurtures children’s curiosity and creativity.
In my professional experience at Cranbourne West, I have embraced a variety of roles and responsibilities. This includes working directly with the children, families and educators and maintaining an engaging curriculum. I started out as a casual team member, working in each room as needed. I then went into the Nursery room, where I helped the youngest ones in our care to bloom. Currently, I am working as an Assistant Educator in the Three-Year-Old Kindergarten room. I am also working towards a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and care. This will allow me to deepen my knowledge of early learning pedagogy, as well as take on new roles in my career journey.
I have also faced challenges along the way that have helped me grow, including balancing work and life, and duties within the rooms such as adapting teaching methods to help support each individual child.
On the other hand, one of the joys of being at the centre for so long has been seeing so many children achieve their goals and reach milestones. Knowing that I have had an impact on their growth is rewarding and reminds me of why I love being an early educator.
There have been many amazing memories during my time at Aspire Cranbourne West! One that stands out is the first team-building experience I had with the centre staff. We went into the city for dinner and got to know each other better and spent time with each other. This was with then Centre Manager Kylie Bartlett, who is now Aspire’s Head of Operations. This was one of the most fun times I have spent with the centre team.
My career at Aspire Early Education has grown both in part thanks to personal development and creating strong relationships with families. It is amazing that since I have started, I have a stronger ability to tailor my educational approach to every child’s needs. I have grown in confidence in my teaching abilities, and have taken on a range of different roles. As well as that, I have enhanced my ability to communicate effectively with parents, which helps the children grow, and I to provide education that fits each child’s needs.

There have been a lot of people that have supported me throughout the years, almost too many to mention! Some that have been especially impactful are Kylie, Thilini and Kristy. They have put so much time and effort into both the centre and myself as an educator over the years. These people and many others have helped throughout my years at Aspire Cranbourne West. I hope to be this person for other people at the centre too.
I am interested in taking on more responsibility at the centre, such as in a leadership role. This would allow me to expand my contributions to the centre and lead and support other people at Cranbourne West. This service has a strong record of growing leaders that step up within the organisation and they inspire me to follow their lead. Undertaking a Bachelor degree is a step I am taking to build my leadership capabilities.
Working in the team at Aspire is great because of the strong sense of team spirit and collaboration. It gives us opportunities to learn from one another, support each other through challenges and support each other’s successes. I love knowing that I am fully supported by the educators in my room, the management team and the centre team members as a whole.
I would say that it is an incredible opportunity for anyone who is passionate about early childhood education. You grow personally and professionally at Aspire. Be open to new experiences and to learning more by accepting any opportunities that come your way. It’s a place where you can really develop your skills and knowledge in this sector!
Dimpy is a core part of the Aspire Cranbourne West team, and we are so proud of her years of dedicated service to the children and families of the centre. We look forward to seeing where her Aspire journey takes her next.
