Childcare Centre Highlights

Incursions play a large role in the development and growth of each child. Aspire Smiths Lane incorporates incursions to align with Aspire’s curriculum, as well as the interests of the children.

We offer exciting incursion programs that provide new experiences for the children and help them develop new interests and skills. These cover sport, music, art and drama, and are a highlight for the children at Aspire.

At Aspire Smiths Lane, our in-centre chef prepares fresh and nutritious meals every day, guided by the Australian Dietary Guidelines. Our approach to food focuses on variety, balance, and mindful eating to support children’s healthy growth and development.

We focus on variety, balance and whole foods with each meal containing vegetables, fruit, whole grains, lean proteins and dairy. Our chefs also make mealtimes special, whether it's baking a birthday cake or preparing a festive spread to celebrate an occasion. Food is a meaningful and joyful part of our community.

Our Smiths Lane childcare and daycare centre is staffed by a team of experienced and fully qualified educators who are committed to providing the best possible care for every child. We work in close collaboration with families and ensure that any personal needs and requests are accommodated.

Our teachers possess comprehensive knowledge of both the Early Years Learning Framework and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, which offers every child the opportunity to succeed.

Our Baby Steps Nursery Programprovides a nurturing environment, with daily activities and intentional teaching opportunities to support your child to reach developmental milestones. Our play-based learning approach allows children to learn through sensory play, as well as build a foundation for future learning.

TheLittle Learners Toddler Programis designed to create an engaging environment that supports your toddler’s social and cognitive development. We provide a fun, play-based learning approach that engages their young and active minds within a safe and stimulating environment.

Aspire’s Kickstart to Kinder program is specially designed for three-year-olds, offering a warm and engaging introduction to their kindergarten journey. Created in collaboration with kindergarten and local primary school teachers, the program supports each child’s social, emotional and early literacy development.

With a balance of structured and play-based learning, children are encouraged to explore their interests, build confidence and develop independence. This approach helps lay the foundation for a smooth transition into four-year-old kindergarten and a lifelong love of learning.

Our educators work closely with each child, tailoring support to their strengths and interests. This thoughtful approach helps children feel confident and ready to embrace the challenges and excitement of primary school.

Centre Manager

Chauntelle Keane

Hi my name is Chauntelle and I'm excited to join Aspire Smiths Lane as the new Centre Manager! Over the past 18 years in Early Childhood Education and Care, my journey has been both rewarding and dynamic. With a Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, I’ve built a strong foundation in child development and leadership. I've always been inspired by the opportunity to nurture curiosity, support growth, and help foster a lifelong love of learning in young children.

As the new Centre Manager, I aim to lead with passion, encourage innovation, and build an environment where both children and educators thrive. Building strong relationships with families and sharing in each child’s learning journey is something I truly look forward to. My educational philosophy centres on creating safe, secure, and nurturing environments where every child feels valued and supported. I believe that when children feel respected and connected, meaningful learning naturally follows.

Outside of work, I’m a proud wife and mum to three beautiful children—and two adorable fur babies! We love keeping busy as a family and exploring new adventures. I also enjoy cooking, trying out new cuisines, diving into DIY projects, and soaking in live music—especially country, blues, and RnB.

Head of Curriculum

Nimesha Makavitage

My name is Nimesha, and I am the Head of Curriculum at Aspire Smiths Lane. I began my journey in early childhood education in 2021 as an Assistant Educator and have since progressed through the roles of Kindergarten Teacher and Educational Leader, where I mentored educators and guided curriculum development. My passion for teaching and supporting others has led me to my current role as Head of Curriculum. I hold a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education from Victoria University and am currently completing my Master of Education with the Australian Catholic University.

I deeply value Aspire’s strong team culture, its commitment to professional growth, and its dedication to providing exceptional education and care across all age groups. The Aspire value that resonates most with me is “Inspiring and Nurturing”, as I am dedicated to fostering lifelong learning for both children and educators. I am passionate about mentoring educators, implementing play-based learning, and developing inclusive programs that celebrate diversity and support every child’s learning journey. Creating inspiring learning environments that spark curiosity and encourage discovery is something I take great pride in.

Outside of work, I enjoy music and dancing, and I am fluent in both Sinhalese and English.

So happy at this centre!
I originally moved my daughter to another centre at the start of this year to be closer to home. But could tell that she was terribly unhappy and anxious.
Since moving to Ramlegh, drop off's have become easy, she's so happy throughout her day and comes home talking about her educators and friends.

Thankyou to all the wonderful educators and the amazing management team for helping us to feel welcome and safe!

My 14 month old twins have been going here since they were 8 months old and from Zoe the wonderful centre manager to the chef that makes everything fresh daily everything is amazing, they’re both happy as anything to go to daycare and they learn so much every day with the wonderful educators that are just so enthusiastic and love their jobs. 10/10 recommend sending your child here.

If you're looking for a wonderful homey, caring, happy group of educators to take care of your children and nurture them. Aspire Clyde is where you want to be, my boys have been with Aspire since their opening last year and we couldn't be happier and speak more highly. The team at Aspire is operated very well and organised, their educators are happy and in return shows in the way they show up for the children. As a first-time mum, it was hard for me let go of my boys. But the team at Aspire has made it such an easy transition, especially because I know my children are been well taken of by educators who treat them like their own. I love getting the daily updates on the fun activities my kids are getting up to, their teachers all play such an amazing part in their development and growth. I'm very grateful for them and they do such a great job!

Aspire Clyde North have been great for my son Harley! He has been in their care since 8 months old and he is now almost 2. Being a first time Mum I was so nervous about sending him to daycare and them following our routine but they have been so accommodating and great since he started! The kids are always doing such engaging and exciting  activities, the educators constantly post updates on your child and are always so lovely when you’re in the centre. They’ve been wonderful through all of his room transitions making sure both he and I are comfortable before he moves up. They are a great team and I highly recommend them to any parents in the area looking for a daycare.
